Deal or no deal?

Deal or No Deal is a game show on NBC hosted by Howie Mandel.

The concept is rather ordinary, involving no trivia or physical challenges. What is important in this game are luck and a good sense of timing. The rules are simple; you have a chance to win a million dollars by selecting the correct box with that amount in it. There are 26 boxes held by 26 models, with the amounts in their boxes ranging from $1 million dollars to a mere penny. The contestant first picks one of the models' boxes and that is theirs to keep for the entire game or sell at some point to the banker. The contestant then starts to remove the boxes from the game, eliminating the cash amount in them. After a certain amount of boxes are opened, which depends on the round they are on, the banker will call and offer a set dollar amount, which is usually slightly less than the average of the amounts left on the board. The contestant will then be asked if they would like to accept the offer, which is done by saying deal, or reject the offer, by saying no deal, and continue playing.

Deal or No Deal was developed for Australian television from an original Dutch show, Miljoenenjacht, though the transformation into Deal or No Deal has been so radical that little remains of the original format. It has been a hit around the world, with the USA one of the last major markets to take the show.
