The Family Ewing is the first episode of the ninth season of Dallas, and the one hundred ninety-second episode overall.
The beginning of what will only a year later be revealed to be a season-long "dream" of Pamela Ewing's begins with an emotional funeral, and Gary and Val return to comfort his mother/her mother-in-law. The Ewings also have other pressing matters, namely dealing with Sue Ellen re-lapsing into alcoholism, her binges growing more serious and the family making desperate attempts to get her the help she needs.

Plot Overview
Bobby is buried on his favorite hillside, where he loved playing as a young boy, and where Jock built a treehouse for him. After the funeral, J.R. speaks from the heart and breaks down in tears as he admits he loves his brother and will miss him dearly.
