Plot Overview

Dominic is concerned when he finds yet another case of an elderly person's death and looks for a connection.

With Suki's help, Kosmo and Mick investigate the death found at the site of a break-in of a grow-op house.

Meanwhile, when hearing that a needle exchange site was busted by cops, Dominic brings it to the Mayor who counters with a tempting offer.

Happenings

  • A needle exchange programme is busted up by several police officers and a friend of Dominic's, Darcy Charlie, is hurt in the scuffle. He urges her to go to attorney Phil Rosen and file a police report. He tries to convince her to go see a doctor, but she dies while waiting in emergency.
  • Dominic goes to Mayor Hathaway and makes a case for a safe injection site. In return, Hathaway wants to make Dominic a candidate to replace the current Chief of Police. After some hesitation, Dominic agrees.
  • Dominic tells Leo about his consideration of running for Chief of Police and wants to know who else is in the running and Leo agree to check it out.
  • Kosmo is trying to track down Sue.
  • Curtis asks for money from Pierce in exchange for any favour. Pierce asks to see a criminal record on Brenda's ex, Rick Prentice.

Characters

  • Kosmo is partnered with Mick while Leo is now partners with Rose who has been bumped to Homicide. Suki took her opening and is now in Robbery. Curtis has a new partner, Marla.
  • Mick has given away most of his things and is now living out of his car.
  • Leo has gotten a puppy from the pound. His name is Lucky because he was going to be put down when Leo showed up.
  • Dominic has Leo remind him that when he retires, he could use a good investigator and Leo is set to collect on the offer.
  • Sunny is set to go on a sabbatical.
