Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • The person Dominic can't seem to recall in quoting is Lord Chief Justice Hewart from a 1924 ruling in which he stated that " it is not merely of some importance but is of fundamental importance that justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done." Which has been succinctly truncated into what Dominic quotes.

Memorable Moments

Quotes

  • Chick: I hate these domestic scenes. Complicated as hell.
  • Mick: If things were so bad for so long... why didn't you just walk out the door?
Louis Diggens: Sickness and in health... better for worse.
  • Dominic: Uh, the reason I wanted you all here was, uh, well, I felt that it was appropriate that you should hear it from me firsthand, like directly from me before you hear it at the inquest 'cause, yeah, we're gonna go to the inquest. Now, I gave all of you the opportunity to speak to me, plainly and openly. And each one of you have spurred that opportunity to do so. And so, I have had to waste a lot of goddamn time and money because you all live under the impression that Alan Bush was above the law and that your association with him puts you above the law? Well, okay. Okay, let me just quote from whoever it was who said it. I can't remember who it is now - but, uh, that justice must not only be done, but it must also be seen to be done. Is that ringing any bells here? So, that's it, okay? That's the outcome. I'm gonna see you all at inquest. (beat) I'm sorry. I just want to apologise right now if I've wasted any of your time here on something trivial like this.
