Plot Overview
Luca's attorney puts Torello on the stand, and then Breitel gets a crack at him and naturally tears him to shreds. Abrams confers with Steele, Luca's attorney, and he's allowed to re-direct Torello, using items found in a box in the detective's desk drawer to vindicate him. Luca, Bartoli and Taglia are all found not guilty, and the case against Torello is ordered dropped by Breitel, via orders from his higher-ups. Torello then angrily tells Breitel that any future blood shed by Luca will be on his hands. Chief Kramer is paid a visit by Attorney General Belzer, and he angrily defends Mike to the official, but soon winds up surprised with why Belzer is visiting him. Weisbord and Dominic Tranchita are at odds about bringing the heroin trade to Chicago...Weisbord is against having to do anything with drugs, but Tranchita thinks they can make a huge profit, and ambitious Kordo throws support behind Tranchita. Luca and Taglia plan to pack to leave for Las Vegas and start their takeover of the famed Strip, but first, Ray has to go and say goodbye to both Bartoli and Tranchita--permanently, with bullets! Torello is summoned to a meeting in a fancy hotel by Belzer and his assistant Hallahan, who offer him the job of heading a Federal task force to bring down Luca. Torello tells Hallahan in no uncertain terms that he's not a fan of theirs after his treatment at the hands of Breitel, but once he learns that Abrams will be the attorney he'll be working with, he's on board.
