Notes

Trivia

The Show

  • This is the show's first animated story outside of the animated special. Fayna Sanchez, who previously did voices for said special, returns to voice Carmella.
  • Mayor Wrightson's office contains a picture of him shaking hands with George A. Romero, a producer of the original film.
  • Horlicks University and the "Carpenter Arctic Exploration Collection" are references to the original Creepshow story "The Crate", in which a crate from an arctic expedition is found tucked away in a basement lab at Horlicks University. The story ends with the newscaster teasing a story about something that's been found at the bottom of Rider's Quarry, which is where the crate was disposed of.
  • The mayor and his daughter have the last name Wrightson, a nod to comic book artist Bernie Wrightson, who worked in the Art Department of the original Creepshow film.
  • The reporter's name, Mac Kamen, is a reference to Jack Kamen, the EC Comics artist who drew the cover of the comic as well as the comic book panels in the original Creepshow.

Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • Oakwood is located in Castle County, the setting for many Stephen King stories.
  • The park where the time capsule is dug up is named after Randall Flagg from The Stand.
  • The Mi'kmaq tribe from Pet Semetary are mentioned a few times throughout the story. One woman believes them to be the source of the disappearance, while it is also revealed that they were previously massacred by the demons, and as such are responsible for sealing them inside the capsule, having also drawn the pictograms on it.
  • Mac and Carmella work for the WGON news network, which was previously featured in Dawn of the Dead.
  • One of the students in the school resembles Gretchen Grundler from Recess.
