Behind the Scenes
Allusions and References
- The episode itself is a giant allusion to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which was in full swing during the episode's filming.
- The sanitation workers advise citizens to dispose of their loved ones' severed heads by exclaiming "Bring out your heads!", reminiscent of the similar scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
- Mrs. Jones' house is given the number 1408, after the similarly designated hotel room from the novel of the same name.
- A news report at the end of the story mentions that a large spike of cases has appeared in Castle County, the setting of several Stephen King stories.
- Dalton is likely named after the possessed child from the 2010 film Insidious.
- Those who are infected display several mannerisms similar to Deadites from the Evil Dead franchise.
- A number of references to The Exorcist are present during Dalton's visit to Mrs. Jones house:
- The house itself resembles Reagan's house.
- A pot of pea soup, which was used in the infamous vomit scene, is boiling on the stove. Mrs. Jones herself vomits a similar substance when her possession is revealed.
- Mercy, who is supposedly possessed, is tied to the bed similar to Reagan.
Memorable Moments
Goofs
- Johnathon Schaech's first name is spelled "Jonathon" in the closing credits, different than in the opening credits.
