Plot Overview

Up-and-coming lawyer Jackson finds himself growing paranoid after going to visit a psychic on a lark and being warned that a dark force has started following him.

Notes

Trivia

The Show

  • The ashtray from "Father's Day" can be seen on one of Boone's shelves, hidden to the left of the book that Jackson picks up.
  • In one scene, Jackson and Fawn are apparently watching the episode Gray Matter on their TV. The episode's audio of Doc and Chief's conversation can be heard as they watch.
  • The means of getting rid of a familiar, locking it inside a crate and dumping it into a lake, are reminiscent of how the monster in the first Creepshow film's story "The Crate" was disposed of.
  • Fawn becoming a shambling, water-logged corpse is also reminiscent of the first film's story "Something to Tide You Over".
  • Jackson, assuming to have caught the familiar, screams about his victory like Annie Lansing, protagonist of the Creepshow 2 story "The Hitch-hiker".

Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • Fawn's dog, Rudolph, is likely named after Rudolph Junkins from the novel/film Christine.
  • Boone is named after the character of the same name from Nightbreed.
  • Boone mentions someone named "Marcia" during his reading of Fawn's palm. This is the name of Paul Sheldon's agent from Misery.
  • The booze that Boone invites Jackson to share with him is named "MacReady Whiskey", after the title character of the 1982 film The Thing.
  • As she and Jackson enter Boone's place for the first time, Fawn utters the famous quote "I see dead people" from The Sixth Sense.
  • The scene where Jackson discovers that the contents of his desk have been meticulously stacked mirrors the scene from Poltergeist where the kitchen furniture is stacked.
