Plot Overview
The date is July 20, 1973. a young patrolman who had only been on the force for about a year is gunned down in a notorious drug area of Philadelphia. A street person brings in a cassette recorder that she claimed to have found in the trash, a recorder with a tape where someone says, "Runner! Runner! Runner!", followed by three gunshots. Jeffries remembers the case of the young cop whose murder was never solved. They discover that, on the fatal night, he told his partner to go home to his wife and kid while he handled a domestic call, but instead another unit took the call, and he wound up taking a call about drug activity in an area miles away from his district. Lilly and Jeffries are soon confronted with questions about the case...for example, just how was the victim familiar with the area where his body was found, and how did he know the exact way to park a car in that area? Where was he getting the sums of money he had, which were far more than a rookie cop's salary? Who was the mysterious woman whom he'd been visiting in the area? And lastly, who was the other guy he'd fought with in that district before that fatal night?
