Coca-Cola Telecommunications was a short-lived American television production and distribution company.

[edit] History

Coca-Cola Telecommunications (CCT) was formed in 1987 as a television unit of soft drink manufacturer The Coca-Cola Company, which also owned Columbia Pictures and its related divisions (including Columbia Pictures Television) at the time. CCT served as the distributor for animated series The Real Ghostbusters and Dinosaucers.

In addition, when NBC cancelled their sitcom Punky Brewster, CCT assumed production and distribution of the show for syndication for two more seasons (as well as acquiring the US distribution rights to the NBC-era episodes) due to NBC being prohibited from continuing production of the show in syndication because of Federal Communications Commission regulations in place at the time regarding the US broadcast networks producing syndicated programming.

CCT ceased operations in 1988 when Coca-Cola spun off its entertainment holdings and the company was merged into Columbia Pictures Television's distribution unit. All shows previously handled by CCT are now distributed by Sony Pictures Television (except for Punky Brewster, which is distributed by SPT only in the United States while NBC Universal Television Distribution holds the international distribution rights).
