Trivia
- Carpenter was blacklisted from acting in the 1950s due to his support for actor Philip Loeb, who likewise had been blacklisted from the entertainment industry, for being mentioned in the booklet Red Channels. This booklet named entertainment personalities suspected (or in some cases, confirmed) of having ties to Communism. As a result, Carpenter acted only sporadically between the 1950s and the 1970s, primarily in television.
