[edit] Plot Overview

Jud Starr is an outlaw made infamous by the newspapers when he robbed an army payroll of $80,000 which he hid before being arrested. Crown and Francis are delivering prisoners to the county jail and Starr is about to be hanged when his gang free him from the hangman's noose and begins a law breaking rampage over the entire Cimarron Strip.

Upon discovering that Starr and his gang are using the Cherokee Outlet as a place of refuge. Starr has kidnapped his old girlfriend, a half-breed of a Cherokee Mother and a circuit riding preacher, intending to marry her to become part of the tribe by taking her back to a Cherokee village promising the Indians a new life.

With the army refusing to act fearing an uprising Marshal Jim Crown, MacGregor, and Francis set out to track the gang down. Knowing that all the odds are against them as Judd is protected by Indians and his own men wanting a share of the $80,000 Crown gets help from an unexpected source when the legend of Jud Starr begins to unravel.
