The History of Doom is the sixteenth episode of the first season of Challenge of the Superfriends, and the sixteenth episode overall.

Plot Overview

An Alian Group visits what has become the remains of Earth.The entire Planet has become a wasteland.The Aliens survey what must have happened.The trio of Aliens find the Hall of Justice.Through various tapes they learn what had happened to cause the Earths destruction.In one tape they find the Origin of Lex Luthor.The tape reveals how Luthor had started out as a Farm Boy in the Town of Smallville.As Luthor is running his Tractor,young Superboy flies towards him to meet the young man.But,before Superboy could greet the young Lex,a Kryptonite Meteor crashes on the Farm.Young Luthor quickly moves the Kryptonite away from Superboy(who's weakness is Kryptonite).The tweo young men meet,and greet each other.Lex expresses his thrill at meeting Superboy whom he considers the greatest Boy in the World.Superboy thanks young Lex for saving his life.Lex shows Superboy his shack for which he keeps all of his Superboy Trophys.Lex also shows Superboy some Laborarory items that he also collected in hopes of being the greatest Scientist in the World.To show his appreciation for saving his life,Superboy with lightening speed,transforms Luthors Shack into a State of the Art Laboratory(using the collected trophies).Everything that Lex Luthor needs to become the Worlds greatest Scientist.Superboy then departs,and again thanking Luthor for saving his life.Luthor goes about working in the Lab on a fateful experiment.To repay Superboy for the Laboratory,Luthor takes bits of chunks from the Meteor to make an antidote for Superboy.He succeeds in developing a cure for Superboys weakness to Kryptonite.But,in finding the cure,Luthor accidentally knocks over some chemicals with fumes which fills the Room.The fumes rendes Luthor semi-conscience.Superboy wanting to check up on Luthor sees the Fumes from the Lab,and quickly blows the fumes out of the Lab.Luthor regains full conscienceness,but the fumes causes his hair to fall out.In his twisted mind,Luthor blames Superboy for the loss of his Hair.He vows from that time on that he will destroy Superboy.The Video ends there.The Aliens then look at another Video on The Origin of Giganta.In the Video a female steals a Bag of magic powder that is to be used for good.The Woman sprinkles some of the Powder on herself,and grows to Giant size.Her aim is to do whatever evil she seeks.End of Video.The Aliens find other Video,another shows how both The Superfriends,and The Legion of Doom were formed to Combat one-another,and a final Video to show what had happened to cause the Earth to be Destroyed.Luthor had invented a Rocket Bomb to be used against the Superfriends.The Rocket Bomb was to be aimed at the Hall of Justice,and detroy all of the Superfriends.Something unforetunately went wrong,the Rocket Bombs aim broke down,and it spread to varoius parts of the Earth,destoying all life on the Planet.Having learned about the Legion of Dooms plan backfiring,The Aliens with their Highly Advanced Technology will set time backward before The Legion of Doom can put their plan in Motion.The Aliens action will prevent the Legion from carrying out their plan of destruction.As far as the Legion,and the Superfriends are concern nothing Earth Tragic had happened.
