Plot Overview

A car accident has two casualties: the driver, who's a prominent local businessman, dies from injuries sustained in the accident, but his passenger, the daughter of the town's mayor, was strangled to death with a set of Indian friendship beads. Sam recognizes the beads at the crime scene and immediately suspects young Indian Willie Ball of the murder. Willie readily confesses to the crime, but the Sheriff knows him all too well and suspects that he's confessing only to get an audience for his platform on Indian rights. Things get more complicated with the arrival of a visitor in town, a Chicago homicide detective who's investigating a series of similar 'love bead' strangulations. Willie confesses to those murders as well, and Cade appeals to the visiting cop for more time to gain evidence that will clear the young Indian.
