Plot Overview

Jon, Ponch and an officer named Turner volunteer to accompany a trucker whose rigs are hauling deadly chlorine gas to a safe disposal destination 150 miles away. The trip doesn't go as smoothly as they had hoped: for one thing, a small town barricades them from entering , fearing that, if there's an accident, the entire town could be wiped out. They manage to convince the leaders of the barricade to let them pass through. Also along the way, three dimwitted and drunken rednecks cause a multi-vehicle accident involving a Sheriff's transport car and a wild animal carrier, which results in a prisoner almost escaping and a tiger getting out of his cage and terrorizing a nearby store. There's also a rock slide, which creates an obstacle, and Ponch also has to race his motorcycle across desert terrain to get an oxygen kit after the trucker's daughter is overcome by the gas.
