Plot Overview
Jon winds up in the hospital after being injured during a car chase, which leads to Ponch being temporarily partnered with Getraer, whose insistence in doing things by the book drives the young officer crazy. Together, they chase a father who takes his own kids hostage while recklessly driving down the freeway, while also keeping an eye out for the driver who injured Jon and also put Grossman in the hospital as well. In the hospital, Jon bonds with a hospital volunteer, a former Vaudeville comedienne who entertains him with an endless supply of jokes, but he suspects that she's really the one that needs to be cheered up.
