Plot Overview
Glenn Downing, producer of the popular game show Hangman, is himself found hanging from the rafters as the curtains open. Suicide is ruled out, though, as Downing suffered a blow to the head before being hung, possibly from a croquet mallet that was one of the prizes. Amos and Peter quiz several suspects, including Reece Robertson, the flashy host; the Vanna White-type co-host; Downing's wife; the show's head writer, and even a very successful contestant. The stakes get somewhat higher when Peter is wounded by a sniper while interviewing one of the suspects.

Allusions and References
Maybe Goodson-Todman should charge royalties for all the game-show related references in this episode. When Amos goes to question Joyce Downing, the dead man's wife, he vows to 'find out more about this...Family Feud!' Likewise, he says he's going to visit Robertson, the popular host, and 'see if he knows how to...Tell the Truth!' A non-Goodson-Todman show is also referenced, as Amos introduces his unveiling of the solution as 'our version of 'Final Jeopardy'!', and he orders Peter to arrest the killers thusly: "Show these two losers their parting gifts!".
The role of murder victim Glenn Downing, a game-show producer, is played by Peter Marshall, the multiple-Emmy-winning host of The Hollywood Squares.
