Plot Overview
A pesky newspaper reporter catches up with McCord, wanting to know the truth about the Bitter Creek massacre. He deduces that McCord is telling the truth and wishes to write a story clearing his name, but McCord blows him off. The reporter then goes to visit the widow of McCord's friend and discovers that she has letters in her possession that could absolve McCord of any blame, but the letters are largely an attack on General Reed, McCord's former superior officer, and if published, could undo relations between Indians and the cavalry.
