Plot Overview

Despite his insistence that his wounds aren't hurting as much as Renji would like to believe, Ichigo is having a hard time standing. The two go back into battle and Ichigo can only barely defend himself against Renji's attacks, but they're both worn out entirely by the fight. Renji gets his second wind insisting that Ichigo deserves everything he gets for stealing Rukia's powers and condemning her to death, but Ichigo also gets his and figures out the limitations on Renji's attacks. He realizes that Renji can only use three attacks before it returns to its original state. Ichigo makes an attempt to hit Renji while his Zabimaru is retracting his sword, but Renji dodges him and cuts open his shoulder.

Renji lands a blow on him that should have killed him, but Ichigo survives and flashes back to one of his battles with Urahara. During the fight, Urahara kept pushing him until Ichigo can recall how to call Zangetsu's true form but Ichigo can't. Urahara tells him that it's shameful that he can't fight without showing fear towards everything that he's fighting for. He shows that his resolve to kill him is reflected in his sword, so Ichigo mimics his actions and creates a large canyon in the ground between him and Urahara.

Back in reality, Ichigo finds his resolve and increases his energy and fights back against Renji. He destroys Zabimaru and cuts him deeply. Finally, the battle is over and Renji has lost.
