Bleach — Season Two

Orihime Is Being Targeted is the eighth episode of the second season of Bleach and the twenty-eighth episode overall. Orihime and Uryu are cornered by a soul reaper calling himself Jiroubou while Ichigo and Ganju run for their lives.

Plot Overview

Information on Rukia's whereabouts firmly in hand, Ichigo now needs to find where Ganju is. He's stuck in the maze of the city and decides to yell to get Ganju's attention. This only manages to give his position away to several other guards, forcing him to run away. Somewhere else, Ganju too is running away through the maze but finds himself stuck at a dead end. He hears Ichigo's shouts, but he can't do much while cornered by Yumichika. He causes several diversions, but eventually winds up hanging from the pit once again. He uses his seppa magic skill to turn the edge into sand and send Yumichika teetering off onto the ledge, but it isn't until he's able to send an entire chunk of rock off into the pit that he's able to shake Yumichika into the air. At that point, he's taken down by Ganju's fireworks.

On a nearby rooftop, Uryu and Orihime are cornered by giant, not unlike Jidanbou. Uryu shows incredible speed by saving Orihime from the first attack by the man, but when he tries to fight back he only winds up blinded with sand in his eyes and hanging from the edge of the rooftop. Orihime calls on Tsubaki to attack her foe, but Jiroubou deflects him easily. Jiroubou takes another shot at Orihime, but Uryu stops his attack with his bow. Jiroubou shows the true form of his zanpakuto, a cluster of spinning knives which he claims are perfect for dealing with projectile weapons. But during his speech, Uryu destroys all of the knives with his first blow and the remaining sword with his second.

Meanwhile Hanataro tries to get to Rukia's cell, but is repelled by the guards. Also, Mayuri Kurotsuchi gets wind of Ikkaku's defeat at the hands of Ichigo. Kurotsuchi is far more interested in scientific experiments than defending the honor of the soul reapers and decides to go visit his fallen comrade.
