Plot Overview
In the mortal realm, more and more hollows have been appearing in town. Karin and Yuzu find a yellow cat being chased by a couple of them, but Karin manages to send them away with a well-placed soccer ball. The two take the cat and go back home to the clinic, where they meet Don Kanonji and his giant pink Cadillac. He's there to visit with Ichigo, but of course Ichigo isn't even in this plane of reality. Karin tries to get him to go away, but he's carried off by the Hollow from before.
Jinta, bored stiff with his cleaning duties, has decided to take matters into his own hands and kills the hollows carrying Kanonji although Kanonji takes all the credit. They avoid the crowds and Jinta explains that the cat is a spirit that needs to pass on to the underworld. Don Kanonji decides that because they have such power hidden inside them, they should all become his pupils. They're less than enthused about his offer, but Karin and Jinta go with him anyway. Meanwhile, Yuzu and Ururu go to the Urahara Shop to seek Urahara's help in protecting the cat, but he and Tessai are out to lunch. The hollows follow them to the shop and Ururu tells Yuzu to run away while she fights the hollows outside.
Kanonji decides to start a super hero team that will be featured as a segment on his television show. Not only that, but because there are no other members of the team, one of them gets to be in the red position. They all run off to save Yuzu, and the two kids compete with one another for the position based on who performs the best. But, neither of them do a whole lot aside from bickering over who's winning. Ururu kills several of the hollows and the cat does something to make them back away, but the hollows eventually form into one big hollow that knocks Yuzu off the roof. The cat transforms into what looks like a flaming lion. The three kids, along with the lion, defeat the hollow.
On a rooftop nearby, the lion turns back into the cat and Yuzu remembers that she has seen the cat before. She fed the stray during the rain one night, but it was hit by a car when it tried to follow her home. The cat disappears entirely after its comes to terms with the way it died and crosses into the afterlife.
In the end, everyone quits the team when Don Kanonji says that he's the real leader.
