Plot Overview
The Chief Resident at Metro General Hospital, Ben Casey, is under fire by the Administrative Staff for his unorthodox methods, which have caused a number of nurses to quit and ran off some doctors as well. He has a quandary about how to treat a young boy in need of a serious brain operation--if he does operate, as he wants to do, the boy might die. If he doesn't, which the Board wants, the boy doesn't stand a chance. Adding to his problems, Casey is bitten by a young woman suffering from rabies. When she dies, Ben becomes seriously worried that he may also die, as well as worrying about what his being quarantined will do for the boy's chances of getting the operation.
