This episode marks the acting debut of Sean Penn. According to Jonathan Etter's book, episode director Kenneth Gilbert mentioned that fellow Barnaby Jones director Leo Penn read the script for this episode and suggested that his son might be right for one particular role. He was cast in the small part and on his way to movie stardom within a couple of years.
