Basic Information
Lieutenant "Buck" Compton, another 506th original, served under then-Lieutenant Winters, who worried that Compton was getting too friendly with the troops. Buck served with distinction and took a German round in the ass (an Easy Company tradition) during the disastrous Operation Market Garden.
Compton remained with the 506th until Bastogne, where his friends Sergeant Joe Toye and Sergeant Bill "Gonorrhea" Guarnere were hit by artillery fire while Buck watched, horrified, from his foxhole. Toye and Guarnere lost their legs, and Buck cracked under the stress. He was shipped out shortly thereafter.
