Austin City Limits is a weekly concert series broadcast on PBS and is also television's longest running concert music program. Although the series is known for showcasing country music, Willie Nelson was the first guest, it has become an outlet for popular jazz, folk, blues, alternative and indie rock artists.
Austin City Limits is filmed live in Austin, Texas by KLRU, the local Austin PBS station, on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Each episode typically devotes time to two separate concerts but occasionally gives the full hour to a single act. For example, The Pixies' episode was an hour long during their reunion in 2005.
In 2009, the series moved from the University of Texas communications building into a specially built theater that allows for more audience members and higher quality production facilities.
