Animal Planet is a US-based cable network, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
The channel was co-founded with BBC Worldwide in 1996, with a 20 % interest held by the BBC until 2006. The international channels of Animal Planet were minority owned by the BBC in Canada and Japan, and co-owned (50 %) in Europe, Asia and Latin America until 2010.
