After the Fall is a comic book maxiseries which acts as a canon continuation of Angel. The series will be written by Brian Lynch, writer of several other non-canon Angel miniseries published by IDW, and supervised by Joss Whedon. The series was created in part due to the success of the canon season eight comic books.

The maxiseries will pick up after the events of the final episode. After killing the inner Circle of the Black Thorn, the senior partners at Wolfram & Hart have taken the whole of Los Angeles into hell in order to kill Angel, Gunn, Spike and Illyria. The four were still standing in the final battle, but it is unknown as to what their status is.

Lynch has confirmed in various interviews that the above four characters will appear, along with Connor, Harmony Kendall, Gwen Raiden and Lorne. He has also said that he plans to introduce Betta George, a character from Spike: Asylum and Spike: Shadow Puppets into the series.

Unlike Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight, this series is expected to end in 12 issues, with additional special issues to fill in story beats while the main book is on hiatus. The first issue will be released to comic book stores on November 28, 2007. Most release dates are speculative based on interviews and solicitations.
