Joint Custody is the nineteenth episode of the second season of American Dad, and the forty-second episode overall.

Plot Overview

Stan wants his daughters boyfriend Jeff Fisher out of his life for good.He is so desperate that he first has Jeff's Van demolished.This act did'nt work,since Jeff sets up Camp on the Sidewalk.Since it is Public Property Stan cannot do anything about it.This fact does not stop Stan from trying.He would even go so far as looking for a weapon to kill Jeff.Roger,however stops him because Roger finds a way to getting Jeff out of Stans life forever.Having checked the Internet,Roger discovers that Jeff had been arrested for carrying several pounds of Marijana in the truck of his Car.He had made bail,and then skipped the State of Florida.A wanted poster was put out with a big cash reward.Roger feels that if they(he,and Stan) could turn in Jeff,they can split the reward.While Roger is trying on several clothes to wear to decide which Bounty Hunting suit to wear,Stan drives off in his Car with Jeff on the passenger side.He lies to Jeff telling him that they are going to a Baseball Game.As they are driving,Roger catches up to them on his Motorcycle.He has finally decided on the the clothes to wear for the Bounty.He confronts Stan about his attempts to claim the reward on Jeff for himself.Stan says that he could care less about the reward.He just wants Jeff out of his life.Jeff hears this,and is stunned.He really thought Stan was going to take him to a Baseball Game,something Jeffs own Father never did for him.Jeff manages to hop a passing Train,and escapes.Stan decides to track Jeff down.Having told Stan about where is Father lives,Stan will go there.But,to make sure Roger does'nt follow,Stan shoots his Motorcycle Wheel.This however does not stop Roger.He walks to the nearest Town check in to a Motel Room,and using Stans Credit Card for which Roger borrows,calls to find out when the Credit Card was last used.Before he finds out,Klaus calls from the Smith Home to inform Roger about Jeffs Fathers Home address.Stan manages to locate the address which is on a Farm.He arrives there first with the intent to turn Jeff over to the Florida Authorities.Jeff pleads with Stan to let him spend one night with his Father for whom he has not seen in three years.Stan is with Jeff,and Jeffs Father when Jeff tells his Father about what he has been doing with his life.At first Jeffs Father seems pleased with his son...until he puts on a sarcastic act,showing himself to a first class Jerk.Stan is suprised by Jeff non-challant attitude.He is not at all insulted by his Fathers treatment of him.Jeff thinks his Father is joking.Stan however finds this bad.But,it will soon get worst.Roger soon appears determined unlike Stan to collect the Bounty on Jeff.While the three of them,Stan,Roger,and Jeffs Dad are in the Barn,Roger holding a pump shotgun holds Stan at gunpoint.He tells Jeffs father about the Reward on his sons head.He wants him to tie Stan up to prevent him from following him when he takes Jeff to Florida.The Father pretends to have Athritist,so Roger ties up Stan,and Jeffs Father holds the Gun on both.He ties up Roger,then explains that it was his Marijuana that Jeff got arrested for carrying.It turns out that Jeffs Father is a Marijuana Farmer.He told Jeff three years prior,that he wanted him to deliver some packages to some unknown location.He also explains that Jeff knew nothing about the contents within the packages,and stands the reason he claimed innocence,which Stan,and Roger now knows.He ties them up so that he can claim the reward to make up for Jeff getting arrested for Marijuana bust.Stan,and Roger attempt to get loose,to prevent Jeffs Father from collecting the reward,and clear Jeff.Stan,and Roger get loose,using fire to burn their ropes.But,in doing this the Barn where the Marijuana was harvest burns,and the smoke consumes in the air making Stan,and Roger high.They become unaware of the great feeling until Stan reads from a pamplet of the ways to tell if a person is HIGH.Stan snaps out of his high feeling once he realizes,that he is HIGH.Stan also realizes that in a certain way he likes Jeff.Stan recalls that his own Father was'nt much better than Jeffs,so he will drive to Florida,HIGH,or not to save Jeff.He,and Roger nearly did'nt make it as Cars were being stopped at check points.The Police Officer stopping the Cars becomes suspicious of Stans odd behavior,and asks him to step out of the Car.Stan instead steps on the gas,and he,and Roger take off with the Floride Stae Police in pursuit of them.While this is going on,Francine,Hayley,and Steve are looking for the keys to the Smiths other Car.Having learned that Stan is after Jeff,none of them could find it.By the morning Stan and Roger finally arrive at the Police Station.Jeff is there.He believes that his Father is inside the Station clearing his name of the Drug charges.Stan tells Jeff that his Father is planning to turn him in for the reward Money.Jeff does'nt believe this.He soon realizes that it is true.His Father points to Jeff as the Pot Smuggler.At that time,the Police who were pursuing Stan arrives to arrest him when Stan informs them that Jeff Fisher is innocent of the charges,and that his Father had planted drugs on him.Stan proves this when he opens up his shirt and reveals that he was wearing a listening device,which had recorded the Fathers confession.The Father is then arrested instead of Jeff.Feeling down,and disappointed,Stan tries to comfort Jeff by saying that while his Father,and Jeffs may not have been good Fathers,that there are others who could be Father figures.While Stan admits that his Mother was his Father figure for a time,until he realized that (Stan) can be his own Father figure.Jeff admits that he does have a Father figure,someone to whom he has looked up to for sometime.Before Stan be happy(thinking it is himself)Jeff blurts out that it is him Uncle,Stan feeling quite embarrassed.Now,they all leave for Home.

The Title to this episode is a play on words like many episodes of this,and other Television shows.

Stan waking up in the Morning to Jeff Fishers Rock,and/or Rap playing Music.Stan in the shower singing a Rap Song while shaving his chest is joined by Jeff also singing. According to the Shows Creators,this episode was to have featured the third part of the Golden Turd Story.Unfortunately,they did'nt have enough time so it was'nt shown.
