Phillip lied unconscious due to a gas leak, Erica vented her bitterness about her life, and the Brents discused Phillip's future and the potential damage done by Nick Davis. Ted and Ruth Brent wanted Phillip to go to a local college, but they were concerned about his employment offer from Nick, who is Phillip's biological father, unbeknownst to most Pine Valley residents. Nick had also upset Erica Kane by talking about the father who abandoned her, and by discussing her meddling role in Phillip and Tara's relationship. Erica and Mona, discused the realities of marriage, and later Erica releases all her jealousy and bitterness to her boyfriend Chuck. Throughout these events, a gas leak had left Phillip immobilized at home, while everyone wonders where he is.
