Airwolf tells the story of pilots Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent) and Dominic Santini (Ernest Borgnine), who are chosen by a top-secret division of the CIA known as "The Firm" to pilot their new, heavily-armed helicopter, designated "Airwolf". In the fourth season, considered by many fans to be terrible, Vincent and Borgnine left the cast and were replaced by cheaper actors, and the Airwolf was essentially retired in favor of cheap stock footage. At least one episode re-utilized entire sets of stock footage of the Airwolf helicopter fighting another similar helicopter from an earlier season to make a new episode. This was done in order to get the show up to four seasons to make it easier to enter into syndication.
