Firehouse is a TV movie about a Black man who goes to work at an all-White firehouse. It aired as part of the ABC Movie of the Week. Although ABC premiered a series the following year with the same title, there is no connection between the TV movie and the series. The movie is shot in New York City with actual footage from the FDNY as part of the filming. Rumored to be inspired by the book Report from Engine Company 82, the 1972 best seller by Dennis Smith, the movie is a racial drama as opposed to capturing Smith's vivid portrait of the world's busiest firehouse in the South Bronx. Nonetheless, the movie captures an era where firemen rode the back step of the truck and no oxygen masks were worn during dramatic rescues.

Cast: Michael Lerner (Ernie Bush), Paul Le Mat (Billy Dalzell), Val Avery (Sonny Caputo), Richard Jaeckel (Hank Myers), Andrew Duggan (Capt. Jim Parr), Vince Edwards (Spike Ryerson), Richard Roundtree (Shelly Forsythe), Sheila E.
