The Liberty Media Corporation is an entertainment company. Through subsidiary Liberty Starz it is the parent company of premium cable networks Starz, Encore and MoviePlex, and production companies Anchor Bay Entertainment, Film Roman, Manga Entertainment and Starz Animation.
The company was a subsidiary of AT&T in 1999, when former parent company Tele-Communications, Inc. was acquired by the telecommunications giant. AT&T spun off Liberty Media as a separate company in 2001 .
