The Liberty Media Corporation is an entertainment company with stakes in a wide variety of cable channels, including Starz, Court TV, and QVC. In addition, Liberty Media is also one of the largest shareholders of News Corporation.
The company was a subsidiary of AT&T in 1999, when former parent company Tele-Communications, Inc. was acquired by the telecommunications giant. AT&T spun off Liberty Media as a separate company in 2001 .
