AFI's 100 Years is a series of retrospectives in which the American Film Institute presents a list of the 100 best American movies in a particular genre or the 100 best American examples of a movie related thing such as songs or quotes. The "100 years" part of the title comes from the fact that the original special was presented on the 100th anniversary of the first movie ever made.
