Wouldn't it be easier or more preferable to list the characters by recurring and regular status than by organization/grouping within the show? Particularly, when these things could change on an episode by episode basis (i.e. a 4400 going to work for NTAC, vice versa)? Lenonn 01:09, 18 Sep 2005 (EDT)

I second this, I'd gladly do it myself, but i've never been particularly clear on the distinction between billed vs. secondary(recurring) vs. not worth listing. Could anyone clarify? -Philoetus 21:10, 16 May 2006 (EDT)
People who are credited in the opening titles are billed. Those who are credited after, are guest stars. Those that are only mentioned in the closing titles are co-stars. Actors that guest star in several episodes are recurring. Any actor credited by name is worth listing in episode pages. —Naddy 21:38, 16 May 2006 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure he's referring to the front page cast list, which had separated the billed cast list into two segments for something or another inside the context of the show. Where the front page is concerned, as Naddy said, people who are credited in the opening titles go under "Billed". However, "secondary/recurring characters" is generally limited to regularly appearing secondary characters, for instance a character who shows up on a regular basis (maybe three, four, five times) over the course of a season and/or plays a significant role on the show a few times, they might go in the secondary/recurring character list. Cally on Battlestar Galactica, Jimmy Palmer on NCIS, or Aaron Pierce on 24 would be a good example, they're not central characters but they show up on an extremely regular basis and thus deserve to be listed on the front page.
However, if someone shows up two or three times and has about one line over the course of their three episodes about getting someone a coffee, you're probably not going to want to clutter up the list with their names. --Hawkman | talk 21:54, 16 May 2006 (EDT)

Canon?

As far as I recall there is no in-canon basis for the time frame mention in the balcked out part of the intro (nor for the other facet mentioned) - the explanation was nowhere near this specific. Seems pure fanwank to me. Vaguedisclaimer 11:12, 18 Sep 2005 (EDT)
