Border blaster

From The TV IV
Jump to: navigation, search

Border blaster is the term for a licensed commercial television or radio station that transmits at a very high power to the United States of America from a transmitter located in Mexico near the border. These stations cater towards the US audiences and usually take affiliation with an American network. Since American companies cannot own land in Mexico, the Mexican owners of the transmitters lease the frequency to an American company. Right now, all border blaster television stations are leased by Entravision. These stations' call letters are identified with the letter X.
