The Adventures Of Lariat Sam was a serialized western comedy cartoon series airing on CBS on the Captain Kangaroo show. It was created by game show announcer Gene Wood (Family Feud, Card Sharks, etc.) and produced by Bob Keeshan Associates with animation affected by Terrytoons. Gene Wood also performed the opening theme song.
Lariat Sam was the benevolent sheriff of the tiny western town of Bent Saddle, where he and his poetry-reading horse Tippytoes kept law and order. A tall task with the villains Badlands Meeney and his stooge J. Skulking Bushwhack. Sam would win the day with the help of his lasso, which he could manipulate for the situation at hand. Five episodes comprised a story arc with each episode running four minutes.
