Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp was a live-action children's comedy series airing on ABC.
Populated entirely by chimpanzees, the series centered around Lancelot Link, secret agent for APE--the Agency to Prevent Evil. The head of APE is Darwin and Lance's assistant is Mata Hairi. Together they must thwart the evil plans of CHUMP (Criminal Headquarters for Underground Master Plan), headed by the monocled Baron Von Butcher and assisted by the likes of Ali Assa Seen, Duchess and Dr. Strangemind.
Also featured on the show, hosted by Ed Simian (doing an Ed Sullivan imitation), are Chimpies (a series of blackouts), and music by the rock band the Evolution Revolution.
During the first season, Warner Bros. cartoons were featured. These were cartoons running from the late 50s to 1969 and featured WB characters not seen on TV before--Cool Cat, Merlin the Magic Mouse, Chimp and Zee, Bunny and Claude (created to capitalize on the 1967 Warren Beatty film Bonnie & Clyde), and Rapid Rabbit. The cartoons were taken out in season 2 after the series was shortened to a half hour.
