Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High is the second episode of the fourth season of Family Guy, and the fifty-second episode overall.
The episode intertwines two stories involving the Griffins at Buddy Cianci Junior High School. Brian gets a job as a long-term substitute English teacher, but is reassigned to special education. [edit] Allusions and References
- Fast Times at Ridgemont High — The episode title is a play on the 1982 movie starring Sean Penn and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
- Law & Order — The opening credits of this episode are a near carbon-copy of the long-running NBC police-lawyer drama starring Sam Waterston and Jerry Orbach.
- Pamela Smart and several other teachers — The plot involving Chris being seduced by his new long-term substitute English teacher, Mrs. Lockhart (to kill her husband in exchange for sex) is based on real-life cases involving Smart and several other former teachers who got students to kill their spouses in exchange for sex and other favors.
- Summer School — Much of the plot involving Brian getting a teaching job at Buddy Cianci Junior High (teacher wins the lottery and disses her students and profession before quitting, makeshift substitute teacher is hired to oversee remedial English class) is a parody of the 1987 movie starring Mark Harmon.
- Welcome Back, Kotter — The scene where Brian asks the students in the remedial English class to introduce themselves is — although grittier — akin to the pilot episode of the 1970s TV series.
