[edit] The Show
- Goof: Celestial mechanics: The Doctor's amazement notwithstanding, it is of course possible to be in orbit around a black hole, it's just another gravity well.
[edit] Behind the Scenes
- Gabriel Woolf, who provides the voice of the Beast, appeared in a previous Doctor Who episode, 1975's Pyramids of Mars (as Sutekh).
[edit] Allusions and References
- Lays of Ancient Rome: Jefferson slightly misquotes from Thomas Babbington Macaulay, Lays of Ancient Rome (1842), Horatius, st. 27:
- And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods.

[edit] Quotes
- Ida: Well, we've come this far, there's no turning back.
The Doctor: Aw, did you have to? 'No turning back?' That's almost as bad as 'nothing can possibly go wrong' or 'this is going to be the best Christmas Walford's ever had.' - The Ood: We are the legion of the beast.
