During the filming of a B-movie vampire flick, the lights go out...and the studio's head is dead from a very gruesome icepick wound under his ear. Shortly thereafter, the dead man's twin brother shows up to take over the studio. Additional suspects include the dead man's daughter (who owns a movie memorabilia store), the beautiful female lead, an aging horror film star, the film's hot-tempered director and the dead man's icy assistant, with whom he was romantically involved.

Amos and Peter visit a movie memorabilia store owned by the murder victim's daughter, played by Christine Elise. As they're waiting for her, Amos admires a movie poster for the 1953 film "The War of the Worlds" and mentions that it's one of his favorite films. He also wonders aloud 'Whatever happened to the fellow who starred in that?', as the camera focuses to the part of the poster which reads...'Starring Gene Barry'!
