A bitchy beauty queen gets crowned--not with a tiara, but fatally, with her own baton. Among the suspects paraded before Amos and Peter: a pageant host with an eye for young girls, the overbearing stage mother of one of the contestants, an undercover journalist posing as a make-up artist, a photographer who was spying on the girls backstage, a few of the other contestants, and the dead girl's mysterious benefactor. When the photographer winds up dead as well, Amos assumed that he must have saw the killer and attempted blackmail.
