Who Killed Lenore Wingfield? is the eighth episode of the second season of Burke's Law, and the fortieth episode overall.

Amos and Tim pay a visit to Jim Clover, disgraced ex-Senator turned businessman, to question him about his dealings with the late Lenore Wingfield. They are about to enter an elevator when the elevator operator tells them that she doesn't go to the 13th floor and that they should use a special elevator across the hall. This elevator is for Clover and people doing business with him and contains a full-length sofa, as well as a PA system delivering a long spiel about Clover Industries. After they exit the elevator, Amos quips "On the way down, Charles Boyer gives a reading of Don Juan in Hell". Boyer (pronounced as 'BOY-ur' by Gene Barry instead of the more familiar pronunciation of 'Boy-YAY') co-founded the series' production company, Four Star Television, along with Dick Powell (who originally played Burke in the series' pilot, "Who Killed Julie Greer?", an episode of The Dick Powell Theater) and David Niven, and he and Niven were co-starring in another Four Star series at that time, The Rogues, which aired on NBC.

This episode clearly plays off the success of The Beverly Hillbillies, which was the top-rated TV series at that time. The characters of Effie Mae Porter and Jay Boy Calhoun are clearly based on Hillbillies characters Elly May and Jethro, and just like in the Hillbillies series, there are quite a few critters running around (minks and chickens).
