ABC Television is the state-owned Australian Broadcasting Corporation's public television service.
ABC Television operates two national channels, the over-the-air ABC1 (which was the original ABC Television from its first sign-on on November 5, 1956 until 2005) and the digital-only ABC2 (which launched on March 7, 2005). The channels run primarily Australian content, but also shows foreign programming (imported mainly from BBC One and ITV1 in the United Kingdom, with some American children's programs also included).
